Narya Forum/Incubator 2003: A Progress Report ( 383.1 Kb)
Prepared for International Space Development Conference 2003. Reports on changes to be made in 2003 to our prototype forum, and introduces the Bazaar donor/vendor system.

Software Downloads

All of these are free-licensed (most are GPL -- but check the COPYING file in each package to be sure).
Game Tiles 1.1 (source only) ( Art, 26.8 Kb)
Same as GameTiles-1.0.tgz, except no PNGs are included to reduce the download size. You will need: Python, Python Imaging Library, and Sketch installed to build. See also the BuildImage Tutorial.

Tested on Linux only, but should be portable. See README for other issues.

Game Tiles 1.1 (source + PNGs) ( Art, 130.8 Kb)
Assorted graphics created with use as tiles for various games in mind. Source is sketch. Also demonstrates BuildImage utility, which allows building images from vector graphics in an analogous way to using "make" or python's "distutils". See also the BuildImage Tutorial.

Build scripts work now! Have added several new tiles, 50x50 built tiles provided as example. Now uses PPM export in Sketch, which should be portable (only tested on Linux, though).

Zogger 0.9 ( Zope Product, 1081.6 Kb)
Zogger is a "Zope Ogg Player" -- it deploys a Java Applet music player (jlguiapplet by JavaZOOM). Load songs in Ogg or Mp3 format into the folder, load skins into the "skins" subfolder.

This is my first hack at it. Some things are very incomplete -- not much checking of upload files for correctness, can't read embedded meta-data in Ogg files, etc. But the basic operation works.

VarImage 2.4.0 (full release) ( 271.1 Kb)
VarImage means "Variable Image" -- it is a Zope product which allows you to load a single image and serve modified versions of it. Thus you can have most of the flexibility of "on-the-fly" image generation, with very little penalty compared to pre-prepared images. See Source Forge Site for Narya for earlier versions.

Version 2.4.0 is the result of much polishing and debugging. New features include better HTTP_REFERER blocking options, more accurate error image responses, unit test cases and test images (this is the main reason for the increase in size), and a streamlined plugin API that simplifies access to arbitrary image meta-data. I've tested this one quite a bit, and I think this is about as good as it gets, hence the "full release" tag. I consider this okay for production use. I do recommend using Zope 2.7.0 and Python 2.3 or later with this version.

Our mission at Anansi Spaceworks is to provide the training and resources that will be needed for a Free future in Space. For us, that future isn't about governments or stocks, but about people. There are thousands of problems that need solving to make way for space colonization, and there's no one better suited or motivated to solve them than the people who want to go. Our job is to make that as easy as it can be!
